Was hoping for so much more

I love a good short story collection but this one just didn't do it for me. It's a nice big stack of stories, and it's well edited and formatted, no faults there. But the stories themselves were mostly near misses for me. The first is a (poem?) collection of loosely jointed sentences that are less story and more of an angsty teenage scramble. The second story is a political scree thinly veiled as story, and the third is a pretty typical revenge tale. Both the second and third are very well told by authors who have very unique voices, however the tales didn't really grip me. Unfortunately for me, the rest is more of the same. So check out the first three. If those are to your liking, you'll probably enjoy the full volume. Mileage may vary.

I've Never Read a Collection/Anthology Where Every Story Was My Favorite Before

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and the weakest in this chain are adamantium. Never have I read any collection or anthology where every story was a winner, until this one.A complete knock out of the park horror shorts anthology. High praise goes not only to the 35 incredibly talented writers, but to the two ingenious editors, Harmann & Saywers, who pushed the anthology to its highest potential. They mopped the blood into every possible corner, exploring every angle the premise of Human Monsters can circumvent. Each story is so well-written and consuming of your imagination and attention in such varying and diverse ways. You'll be keeping an eye out for each name after this collection, established or new. From cruel characters to cruel worlds, scraping the scum of **** and earth, poking nauseously at the macabre and weird, looking uncomfortably and the human and monster in us all, and twisting the knife into your empathetic, bleeding heart, "Human Monsters" will chill your blood, break your heart, flip your stomach, and drop your jaw in turns. You can deny ghosts, demons, and the undead, even as you lay sleepless and sweating. But you can't deny the cruelty and monstrosity that exists in the people of this world, reported onto your phone screen every day. This anthology will make you look those possibilities in the eyes. Serial killers, blood-thirsty societies, revenge, perversion, survival, capitalism, malice and complete, total apathy and antisocial psychopathy. You'll be more afraid of the crowds around you than the monsters in your closet and under your bed after reading this. And as this book highlights, perhaps you should be.

Room Temp. Old copies of Alfred Hitchcock Presents paperbacks are better

I've read hundreds of horror stories and this is average AT BEST!Congrats on Dark Matter stacking the reviews. If they put that effort into finding better work this could be good.
